SJ

The new way to travel

overview

SJ, Sweden’s leading train operator, partnered with Bontouch to redesign its mobile app and transform it into a comprehensive travel companion for rail passengers. The app brings together booking, seat selection, digital tickets, payments, and real-time travel updates within a single mobile experience. The goal was to support travelers throughout the entire journey, from planning and booking to navigating their trip and arriving at their destination.

challenge

Train travel involves multiple touchpoints and uncertainties: booking tickets, managing seat reservations, navigating stations, and responding to delays or service changes. Passengers often rely on fragmented information and external communication channels to understand what is happening during their trip. The challenge was to create a unified mobile experience that provides clear information, real-time updates, and self-service tools while remaining simple enough to use during travel.

Role

During my time at Framna, I collaborated on the project as a Product Designer, contributing hands-on to the design work alongside the broader product and design teams. My role focused on UX and UI design, interaction patterns, and supporting the development of the app’s design system, helping translate complex travel workflows into clear mobile interactions.

IMPACT

The redesign contributed to the evolution of the SJ mobile app as a central touchpoint for rail passengers, supporting travelers throughout their journey with clearer information and more accessible self-service tools. The work helped shape a more cohesive mobile experience that brings together booking, ticket management, and travel updates into a single interface.

All projects presented on this website were developed while working within companies, studios, or as an independent freelancer. The work spans commissioned assignments and studio-led initiatives across different contexts and collaborations. Most projects are the result of multidisciplinary teams contributing across strategy, design, and production. Those associated with a specific company or studio were created during my time working within those organisations. Each collaboration has been an opportunity to learn, refine, and build alongside others. The outcomes reflect shared thinking, shared responsibility, and the collective effort behind the work.
